We weather-diverted into this sweet little Midwest airport. Don Mensen of Carroll Aviation, also the airport manager, RV-builder, and all-around good guy met us in the rain before we shut down and offered us hangar space. Later we used the courtesy van and RON’d. Don gave great food and lodging advice as well as local information. We’re putting this on our “must return” list.

This is a wonderful little jewel of a stop. Cheap fuel and a very nice pilot’s lounge which you could stay in if you needed to overnight because it’s always open. We were given one and were allowed to keep overnight for no cost, just wanted it back by 8am. Hangared overnight in cold winter building was heated to +35F and engine heaters plugged in.
